Today I will be featuring a book from one of our prize donors, Ame Dyckman! Ame actually has a new book coming out called "Silly Boobies" and it looks hilarious.
But I'm here to talk about one of my favorite laugh out loud picture books by Ame:
Read the Book Lemmings! I had not read any of Ame Dyckman’s work so I had 0 expectations when I picked this one up.
Let me tell you, I immediately started laughing on page 4. In fact, my whole house was laughing and yelling at the book - and when we got to the end? We had to read/laugh at it/yell at it it again.
Why is this book funny: I would file the humor here under “silly/random/ surprising” with a sprinkle of dramatic irony - which I think Ame is a genius at. Also, you get to yell at the characters which - spoiler alert - changes nothing, they won't listen to you. I can't say too much else about it without giving the surprise part of the humor away.
